Hello,

Thank you so much for the story you are going to write for me. I adore all these fandoms in various but equal ways and am looking forward to reading what you write. Below is a list of things I especially like, it is by no means whole, just broad enough in hopes to jumpstart you if you’ve hit a block. Even if what you write is not on this list, it’s not a big deal, this list just skims the surface of some of my absolute favorite tropes. Het, femslash, slash, gen, it is all good to me. Don't stress about this.

I got my noms in yesterday; but today (around 6pm EST) is the deadline so if you're still deciding, just know the clock ticks. Some have said AO3 has timed out on them so don't wait until 5:58 I guess.

My noms were The Bridge, Jennifer's Body, Tenderness, The Amazing Spider-man (2012). I am not firm on everything I will be offering right now but at least the nominations are behind me.

Anyone doing femslashex? I don't think I am going to sign up but I will be eyeing letters for possible treats because there were so many fandoms I was interested in.

Have you guys locked in your nominations yet? Perhaps like my general ways, I am making this harder than it needs to be but the plan is to go ahead and lock it in today just in case AO3 gets weird on the last day (23rd). Right now I have two definite spots filled with Tenderness and Jennifer's Body but I'm still dawdling on the last two, probably TASM and maybe either The Bridge or perhaps The Boondocks but I am so hesitant to foist that canon on someone because the tone would most likely be the hardest thing to get right.

I saw Sleepy Hollow and liked it; the show is bizarre but it's not overly serious and they are not dragging out getting people to believe the insanity; I loved it when the other cops saw the headless horseman.

On the laptop front I ended up buying a laptop cooling pad and so far so good; I've been able to stream not without an issue and I have played Sims Medieval without it going into hibernation mode.

So Sims Medieval: I do enjoy it but it is much more quest oriented than I care for. The way I play the Sims is to kind of dither about, make a cheap place, get work but it's not as directed as the Medieval game is. Also, the tutorial is soooo long. The plus side is I only paid $5 for it so even though I'm not mad for it, I didn't pay full price.

Yuletide: Who is doing it? Do you know what your nominating? I'm pretty sure I will be doing it. Last year was a success and it was nice being able to write to a deadline; and I'm even getting kudos on it still and the fandom is very small.

Reveals should happen any moment today, but I already started this post without the author names so I'm posting it now and finishing my Yuletide read through this week.

Ten in this set. I have some fandoms saved to go through but I have at least glanced at all known fandoms in this yuletide; the goal is to finish commenting before reveals (1st) and have the rec posts done, but there is a lot of other things hovering.

Haywire, Cracks, The Hour/1984, Mulan (Twisted Princesses), Literary RPF, Mean Girls, Misfits, Mad Men, Tennis RPF, Whip It )

Before I continued on with my reccing posts for yuletide as I (slowly) go through all my known fandoms, I wanted to pull out and focus on the gift for me written in Pitch Perfect. It is such a great story, centering on a strong female friendship, giving it layers that are shown in the actual film (I rec this film), and with a plausible hint of maybe prefemslash if you want to see that.

I left a gushing comment on the story, but really, the writer carried off the comedic tone of the film so well.

The Whole World Stops and Stares (3030 words) by Anonymous

Summary:

Chloe and Aubrey in the minutes and months after Pukegate.

Checked my profile and sad a gift uploaded for me under Yuletide. It could be a gift fic but I think it's my request, so between that and me actually posting my assignment on time, Yuletide is an on paper success.

Currently thinking about titles and summaries. I have just finished the story and now I am at the point where the title, summary, ratings are needed. The ratings part was actually simple enough (this time), the title and summary though.

As much fanfiction I've read through the years, I don't remember many titles, I'm more likely to describe the story as the events happening within. That's not to say that titles don't matter because good ones do intrigue me, and get me to click, but what I check out first is pairing, genre, rating, word count, summary, title--in that order. The title I do remember is 'In Our Bedroom (After the War)' which is actually from a song, but more than that, actually caught the entire premise of the story--a bandom group sex fic AU with the characters learning what they wanted and figuring out the web and how to live and have this nontraditional thing--it really worked. I don't remember the summary.

Pulling this out to pro fic, Titles enhance but don't override flaws of the work. Titles are important, as are summaries.

I have my assignment. I'm pleased. We're only officially matched on one fandom but I am familiar with another one I just didn't offer it. Luckily it's a fandom I've already been interested in writing for just never fully got around to it.

So it's supposed to be a secret so I guess that's all I can say?

Hello,

Preemptive thanks for the work you’re going to produce for me this Yuletide. I adore all these fandoms in various but equal ways and am looking forward to reading what you write. Yuletide is gearing up, something most of you are probably already aware of: the nominations are up and are going through the review phase. There are already enough fandoms I'm familiar with that I could offer but there are some more I'd like to check out just in case. A major part I'm thinking on is the yuletide letter -- I want to write one because I know I'd like one but I want it to be good.

I'm thinking nothing too stringent, a lot of variety, gen and pairings, and discussion about what I enjoy about the canon to provide a sort of springboard. Does that sound adequate?

TV

My completist ways are dual blessing and curse; I could easily drop Fringe now because I haven't fully enjoyed a season since part of S3 and last season left me frustrated more often than not while enjoying certain parts, but I haven't really cared about the journey of the show for a while but I'm so very close to the end and I still hold varying levels of affection for the characters that I watched last week's premiere out of curiosity, loyalty, and an understanding that I have nothing else really to do at 9 pm on a Friday.

Elementary and Scandal are making it tough for a person without DVR. Last week I flipped channels and enjoyed both, this time I stayed with Elementary to see how they progressed from their pilot and realized it was just the kind of show I wanted to see Thursday night. Lucy Liu and Miller have great chemistry and the slightly prickly relationship between Watson and Holmes coupled with moments of warmth give me hope. The crime cases are CBS procedural but I don't really care. Scandal had a great moment between the First Wife and the Widow -- seriously, Emmy reel; but I have not seen the entire episode so I can't speak on it yet.

I find myself wanting to catch up with Go On but I haven't got around to it yet.

Parks and Rec is a constant pleasure that I'm taking extra care to enjoy because this feels like the last season of a great show.

Once Upon a Time sucked me back in. Even if I track down all the fic of Fairy Tale Land with Mulan and Aurora having adventures with Lancelot popping up occasionally it'd be worth it.

I have plans to skim through others Yuletide recs and I applaud everyone who diligently compiled their recs and posted them to the comm. I know I am not going to get around to linking up all the stories I liked probably until months, so here is a link to my recs on AO3 which mostly do the same thing.

Awkward Sex Meme! This is something that interests me.

I received my prompt for poetry_fiction and the story is due in the first week of Feb.
wishfulclicking: dianna and naya (glee: dianna naya)
So I just finished reading all the yuletide stories I wanted and in the upcoming week I'll check out some rec posts for any works that I skipped that look good. I'm always amazed at how fast others get through it and start posting recs when I don't think I finished last year's collection.

I'm still massively behind on going through the Reading in 2011 Posts and I do want to post about movies and television this year as well, but some of that will probably bleed into 2012.

Someone besides me posted in [community profile] itstartswith the community I created but never promoted or mentioned. Yeah. I am going to do something about that: like start posting and promote it on some comms. I even made an icon for it that still doesn't look too shabby.

Besides [community profile] inkingitout I signed up for [community profile] poetry_fiction for 2012; it doesn't look like much but if I do this on time it will be a first for me in writing something in a timely manner for a challenge.

I need to find it within to subscribe to some other people, especially new journals. I remember what that was like.
