wishfulclicking: cassie from skins (skins: cassie)
[personal profile] wishfulclicking
Hello,

Preemptive thanks for the work you’re going to produce for me this Yuletide. I adore all these fandoms in various but equal ways and am looking forward to reading what you write. Below is a list of things I especially like, it is by no means whole, just broad enough in hopes to jumpstart you if you’ve hit a block. Even if what you write is not on this list, it’s not a big deal, this list just skims the surface of some of my absolute favorite tropes.

//Delicious fic tag of everything I’ve really liked
//Tumblr where I’m most active recently; my other more fannish one

Things I Like:

Happy Endings, even if ambiguous at least a chance of hope
Pining
Secret Marriages/Relationships
Time Travel
banter (if applicable to the characters)
earned relationships
Magic woven into non-spectacular settings/modern
wall sex
devoted friendships being pressured but coming through in the end
Alternate Universes where the canon relationships are mapped on a different terrain but still come through
Dark AUs (criminals, everything leading to a bad place but it’s okay because the group/pairing is together)
People with crushes meeting up later on
Unrequited Love leading to the person meeting someone else

Things I’d rather not have in this story:
Noncon/Rape
Sanctioned Infidelity - I don’t care if a couple hooks up while one or two are involved with others but I don’t want the cheated on party being painted as villains or deserving to be cheated on
Hard Kink - scat, vore, hard bdsm, etc.
Deathfic (unless it’s in the canon but no focus on the act itself of the main character dying)
Extreme graphic Underage (nothing below 15 yrs old)
Crossovers

Chronicle (film)

Chronicle is a film where three teenage boys obtain superpowers and mostly react by making mischief until events take a turn as reality intrudes on their bubble of friendship, jokes, and adventure. Seeing this film was fresh and a realization of how I had hoped with the superhero boom in films to see more of that trickle down to more original stories: the three characters were distinct, had complicated relationships (loved Andrew and Matt being cousins but distant) and Steve’s general goodness (trying to help Andrew but lacking the tools), and Andrew’s troubled life that had more to do with his horrible end than his powers (if anything his ability to create mass destruction just made the outcome worst).

Favorite moments
The guys flying together; Steve being part of the joke with Andrew’s magic show; Steve calling Matt and Andrew his mistresses; the sleepover; Andrew crying at Steve’s grave; the guys freaking out at Andrew tossing the driver off the road and then getting over it

If doing this request: like I mentioned on AO3 signup: any work within the tone of the canon is fine. Death happens in this film, if writing a story where that occurs, please don’t graphically describe it (please no paragraphs laying out the smell of burnt flesh...), abuse happens in the film but please no close up focus on it. Prefer a focus on Steve and Andrew, slash or gen, is fine. What if AUs are cool, complete AUs are also welcome as long as they keep the tone of the film--action, comedy, a bit of drama, and tragedy.

Pitch Perfect (film)

Favorite parts of this film displayed the friendship between the girls, how they came together and negotiated succeeding. Chloe and Aubrey’s long time but currently strained friendship, Beca’s aloofness in the beginning, Fat Amy’s exuberance, and Cynthia Rose’s spirit were some of the highs. I was also fond of Jesse and Benji and the rest of the cast so though I didn’t add them to my request list feel free to have the show up, but please downplay the vomit.

Favorite moments:
The shower duet between Chloe and Beca; Aubrey vomiting on stage the first time; Cynthia Rose’s gambling problem; Stacie saying her sex drive is a predator; Fat Amy introducing herself; the bus sing-along; Fat Amy being hit with the food and her reaction; Beca not going with the hot older DJ; the singoff

If doing this request: please just try to stay within the tone of the film (comedic, hitting emotional beats, a tad bit of vulgarity). I have a preference for Beca/Chloe, Chloe/Aubrey, any pairing involving Cynthia Rose

Tenderness (novel)

Tenderness is a dark, YA novel following Eric Poole after he’s been newly released from a juvenile correction center for the murder of his mother and stepfather, just when he sets out to meet a girl he met at the center, Lori Cranston forces her way onto his path and from there the book follows them to the und, showcasing how they affect each other. As the pair set out on their journey, a cop, Jake Proctor is on the chase, attempting to make up for past failings by putting Eric back behind bars.

The Lori/Eric dynamic is the most attractive thing for me in this novel; that and how Eric’s depravity is so calmly presented and Lori’s devotion and goal that stands on its own and intersect with Eric, and --a case can be made-- devours him. The ending with Eric trying to save Lori and failing and going to jail for a murder he didn’t commit, in the cell with a part of him crying is still one of the best things I’ve experienced in fiction.

Favorite things: Lori’s quest to kiss guys to get over her crush, the hints about Eric’s past with his mother, Lori knowing Eric wanted to kill her and giving him permission (the hotel scene), Lori warning Eric about the cops, their whole shopping trip, the boat ride of tragedy.

If doing this request: please just stay within the tone of the novel. Death/Murder happen but it’s not extremely graphic. I would prefer a focus mostly on Lori/Eric, not so much in a happy ever after sense, but in how they relate and affect each other. AUs of the what if variety are welcome, as are those in completely different settings but I want the canon to be able to map over well into the terrain. Please no making Eric a good guy. Role reversal would be interesting.
