about a month ago i accidently pocket-blogged "ppp" from my phone. it remains the most commented post.
about 7 hours ago from web Jon's Tweet

of course. thank god it wasn't a string of numbers, it would be like a lost forum up in here

That is so true man. I could only imagine the theories if the ppp had been a string of numbers. Fandom, I love you. Craziness and all.

Plus, Jon Walker blogging and tweeting is made of all things good.

Also, Brendon's laaaav youuuuu made me grin.

Sometimes twitter is evil and a timesuck but sometimes is is wonderful.

1) Comment to this and I will give you 3 people.
2) Post this meme with your answers.
3) Provide pictures and the names of 3 people.
4) Label which you would marry, shag, and throw off a cliff.

[livejournal.com profile] misermob gave me Pete, Ryan, and Jon Walker. This was not a hard decision.

Hard decisions, guys. Hard decisions. )

Okay that is all :)

Title: It's Gonna Grab a Hold of Me
Rating: PG-13 for mild language
Pairing: Jon/Spencer
Word Count: ~2500
Band(s): PATD with a cameo from Greta and other bandom people mentioned
Summary: Spencer has a preferred snack and a plan.
A/N: This is an AU; there are no bands. Much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] trippypeas and [livejournal.com profile] awkwardlurker  for looking over this for me; any remaining mistakes are all mine. This is for [livejournal.com profile] misermob  and January's challenge for [livejournal.com profile] thebigexchange . Hope you enjoy it.
Disclaimer: So much fiction.

All of Spencer's reasons for visiting the Radly Walking food stand three times each day were solely for the good of the economy and his health; it had absolutely nothing to do with the flip-flop wearing, constantly mellow, attendant with the omnipresent five-o-clock shadow and hair begging to be swept out of his face. Nothing at all. )

ETA: OMG LJ CUTS will be the end of me one of these days!

I saw this meme like around last November and I knew I wanted to do it, but then technical difficulties arose and I had to put it on hold. If you haven't done it yet, then go do the meme :)

And now....How I got into bandom (the short edition)

1. Bandom fangirl since: Though this journal was created on March 27th, 2008, I'm going to say that I've been reading/lurking in bandom since November of '07. So not too long, but I guess I'm not a n00b anymore ;)

2. First band in the fandom: Believe it or not, I came in through the Wentz.

Pics or it didn't happen--FOB )

3. How, why, and when did you get into bandom?

That is a long answer that I will definitely answer in a post filled with fic recs and pics and music clips and rambling (sort of like this) but for now, the short answer: [livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs , mixed in with some boredom, a really cool snippet, and a strong feeling of 'I want another kind of story to read, maybe this is it', so it was completely random :) It's actually been over a year ago, and I still love it. Sure the furor has died down a bit, because if I ran on that level of adoration constantly, I'd be mentally dead. Still here and having a good time.

4 is some patd grp shots )

5. What was your first impression of each of them? So this is weird because I encountered PATD two different times: through music/MTV and through fic, but fic was what got me into the fandom, so I'll mention that here.

I should also mention here that these impressions were drawn off of fic so they might be a little skewered and are mostly different from how I view them now. We can all laugh at my ignorance in the comments.

Brendon-- very hyper dude with some hidden depth, also ex-Mormon, I was okay with reading him in fic. Had a good ass.

Ryan--who? I knew he was skinny and was often written as depressed and angry and sort of manipulative. Was often a side character in the fic I was reading. Maybe it was what I was reading. Probably was also the time period, because now he is a happy stoner who looks up gangster in youtube.

Jon -- had a beard and was mostly perpetually pleasant.  He didn't wear real shoes. Also loved coffee, cats, and cameras. Also adored Spencer Smith according to all the fic. AKA the Real Boy of Panic.

Spencer -- Sarcastic, slightly bitchy, loved shoes, lovely eyes, and became slightly adorable around Jon Walker; and sometimes Brendon Urie. Also was Ryan Ross's best friend.

If I was going only by the first time I saw Panic, I have to admit that I thought the act was Brendon with some backup band, kind of like a guy version of Avril Lavigne.

6. What was the first bandom fic you ever read?

This is the second fic I saved onto delicious. (Ryan Ross: Wedding Planner--go read it now if you haven't. It's a classic.) But the first bandom fic I remember reading was a FOB one (Pete/Patrick).

7. When was your first bandom concert experience? What was it like?

So HCT 2008, here is my first unfiltered reaction. Here is the longer one after I took some time to calm down. I should warn for CAPS and rambling, but you guys should know me well enough now to just expect that :)
wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (plot bunnies)
Hatefucked by the sickness fist...yep, that can summarize my situation pretty well. Of course, out of my family I'm the one to get the most sick. What is this? Day three. I look like crap too: red nose from all the tissue, dazed fever glance, can't taste anything. It really sucks.

Enough of my complaining....

The more I watch Burn Notice, the more I want a Bandom AU of it. Ideally I would see it as MCR and Gerard could be the ex-spy and Mikey, his fuckup younger brother.  Frank could be Gerard's crazy ex who loves explosives; and either Ray or Bob could be Sam. I wouldn't even care, just make a Burn Notice AU :)

and if I can't woo you with MCR, let me think of PATD.

Spencer could be the ex-spy and Ryan is his best friend who is kind of a fuckup but is trying to help him now. Brendon could be his crazy ex, because Brendon loving expolosives would be a spectacular thing. (You know you want it!). Jon could be Sam, Spencer's friend from his spy time and is informing on Spencer. Jon would be an excellent Sam :) That is the main cast....

I guess one benefit of me being sick is that I can think of AUs in bandom.

Here is a crossover fic with Burn Notice and FOB. In this, Patrick gets kidnapped and Pete gets some help. Great fic and you should go read it.

of high school fics? or pretend boyfriend stories with hidden crushes? Umm, never. There will never be enough, especially when they are as good as the story I'm reccing here. Sure, you may have doubts, but just know that I had to wait about half a day to calm down enough so this rec post wasn't full of babbling, capslock, !!!!, and *gifs of frank licking things. (still, I don't know if that would convey the level of adoration I have for this one)

LJ Question: Many people believe that what you do on New Year's Day sets the tone for your entire year. How did you spend the first day of 2009? Do you think it will influence the rest of the year?

God, I hope how I spent the first day is not an indication of my theme of the year, considering I spent it mostly dazed due to sleep deprivation and a slight migraine from not eating correctly; to add to my exciting life, I only went out to run an errand at Wal-mart---so no, It better not be an indication of they year to come :)

Don't worry, I know you guys were much cooler than me on the first day. I hope you guys had a great time on that. dumspiro is my twitter username and I'm active on it, so add me or something :)

Jossip posted of Movies 'We' Can't Wait to See. I would like to recall it Movies They Can't Wait to See for some of them. One that did pique my interest; it was The Picture of Dorian Gray. As hot as I find Prince Caspian and Colin Firth as Lord Henry Wotton gets me all frenzied in that pleasant matter, I have to ask, wasn't Dorian blonde in the novel? I'm not one of those canon-police, but there weren't any actors with the hair color? Will Caspian be blonde in this one? (Wasn't Caspian supposed to be blonde in the Narnia movie? Is this some sort of conspiracy by Ben Barnes (ha! I do know his name \o/) to increase dark hair visibility?)

What movies are you guys excited for in '09?

How about music? I sort of want to hear the new Lily Allen; and, despite Panic making rumblings about new music, I wouldn't hold my breath for it until 2010---don't worry, I won't be upset if you guys mock my cynicism when the boys actually release new music in '09. I think I heard something about new Yeah Yeah Yeahs---umm, yes please!

In a random note--how creepy do you guys find the new FOB video? It made me think of the drug trip that I don't want to take. Some Hunter S. Thompson mixed with Dali. Hey Monday's Lead Singer reminds me of a younger female version of Pete for some reason. The whole circus theme makes me think of Panic's cousin; like in some AU, FOB is some creepy circus. Yes, I've read some bandom circus AUs out there but I'm talking bizarro!demented!Circus.

Pulled back

wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (Default)
It is seriously like every time I'm ready to chill out a little on Panic (realizing that my quest to own ...Live in Chicago will not happen before '09 can do that to me) and then I get pulled back in.

*Spencer Smith actually shaved and I didn't believe it for a second, but there are pics on patd. Though seeing Spencer's face in all it's androgynous hotness is a plus, does anyone else feel that Brendon looks really hyped up for some reason? And how it seems Brendon is now trying the facial hair thing?

*[livejournal.com profile] rossetti wrote fic based on new FOB music. I love it when people write stories based on the music, so here is a link for your pleasure.  (oh yeah, it's a brendon/ryan one and it's based off 20 Dollar Nosebleed if you guys need more info.) I'll probably make an 'official' rec post for it but for now, just go read.

wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (Default)

Read this interview with Spencer and see why he is my favorite.

*Why is Spencer always the one talking about this? I can't say I don't love it. Still, he and Brendon give my favorite interviews. Oh how I wish I could be that interviewer for a day....though I can't say how coherent I would be in his presence.

wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (Default)

Usually I exist in a state of ambivalence towards people, so I generally didn't think of Amanda Palmer that much besides liking what I heard of/about her (and can anyone not like that pic with her shirt saying 'lick my legs'?). But I have to say that this issue with her video and her record company is so ridiculously horrible and now I want to go buy her album. Have any of you guys heard her new album? I know Neil Gaiman wrote an intro for it and he always talks about her on his journal.

Speaking of buying albums: I managed to obtain funds to buy music! I'm super happy about it but of course FOB doesn't come out until the 16th! Can I be frank and say that I possess the full ability to buy music and vote on the same day? Because I can. Honest. While I understand the reasoning when I tilt my head to the left and spin, I still wish I had the full album now and not a collection of singles.

Question: On What A Catch Donnie, what exactly is Brendon singing? What lyrics? I can match every other part except for his, and I looked it up online and it said something about love... and what song is that from?

So a recent post on patd gave rise to some comments about pretty.odd. being a flop and I just have to say that I disagree. I heard they sold 600 000 worldwide and while I know that is not close to what was sold domestically for AFYCSO, I have to throw out there that I don't think they were going to sell as well regardless. They might as well have done what they wanted to do. (Since I want to try and keep this post short, I will save my patd postulizing for another post.) But my point is, thinking that patd has lost popularity so their new Live in Chicago CD/DVD should be easy to find was a misstep on my part. Neither Target or Walmart had it so now I just have to lurk and find it whenever I stumble on it. Maybe I will just catch the exclusive one on sale online at some later date because I want those pictures :)

Did you guys read that snippet with PATD discussing possible new music for '09? I have to say that I am really excited for it. I am curious to where they take their music now. I do have some hopes though *more drumming!* *more Jon singing!* *more exciting music!* *stronger songs!*--what are you guys hoping for with the new album?

We just bought a new keyboard for this desktop and it feels amazing. The old one was sticking and deleting mass amounts of words, which made me want to throw out a window after it ate two sentences of my nano.

Another Meme!!! )
wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (reading fanfic)
So today is someone's birthday. It's [livejournal.com profile] foxxcub 's birthday and she is entirely made of great things (like if you haven't read her stories and journal then you are missing out on excellence and sweetness!) but she is also great because she inspires great things, like the following story. So here is a rec, which everyone will eventually read, but just in case, here is some good peer pressure.

Title: If You're Not There To Sing Along
Author [livejournal.com profile] adellyna
Pairing: Jon/Spencer
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 5700
Summary: It's not that Jon isn't hot. It's that Spencer absolutely, positively cannot fuck up Ryan's band. It's an AU.

I don't know what else I have to say to sell it; but this is such a great AU. It's funny and slightly romantic. Excellent cameos. So here is an excerpt, if you need more reasons:

The second round of auditions is even more of a disaster, if such a thing is possible. Spencer puts a carefully worded ad up on Craigslist and receives a slew of dick pictures for his efforts.

"This is disgusting," he tells Ryan, jabbing his finger at his screen. "And irrelevant. Unless this guy is planning to play his guitar with his dick, in which case..."

"I don't think so," Ryan says thoughtfully. "He's uncircumcised."

It's a fallacy that a decade and a half of friendship enables you to understand every word out of someone's mouth. For this, Spencer is sometimes very grateful.

Go read!

I know, it's another post today; maybe I'm just trying to compensate for my impending absence and recent lack of posting.

*What happened to [livejournal.com profile] bandom_recs  ? I went on there because I haven't seen a post from them for a while, and I thought it was just me; but it says here that the last post was in September /o\.  I really loved that comm and I don't want to see it die? Is there some sort of unannounced hiatus? Speaking of bandom_recs, I think there should be a holiday themed rec list since it is the time of year for holidays.

* I was just on [livejournal.com profile] patd  and apparently there is a copy of the NITA from the Live in Chicago DVD from panic and Ryan comes in *loud and clear* during the background vocals. Comments are being sort of mean. I haven't watched the clip because I want to see the entire DVD, maybe I'll watch it on mute so I can catch a glimpse of Spencer's porn-drumming face. (Yes I wold do it just for that) Plus there is a closeup of Jon's feet! I want this DVD so bad :)

*Speaking of Live performances, I got a copy of Paramore's live CD and now I'm listening to it and loving it. I am/was quite ambivalent towards the band (still not a fan of Misery Business), but hearing them live, I have to say I am so impressed. Haley is such a strong performer and the band sounds fantastic. I remember Paramore had one of the best performances during MTV's boring awards show this year.

* Expect a music post soon.

*I've been watching reruns of The West Wing, and I have to say I adore that show! Josh! Sam! Mandy! Toby! I love all the characters. The dialogue! Also, I've been reading some West Wing fic, sometimes I get sucked into fandoms for a day or two, and I read some of my favorite fics. (Yes, I am diehard into Josh/Sam)

While reading through The West Wing fic, I came to a conclusion: some shows translate really well to fandom/ficcage and others don't. For me, some shows, The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, HIMYM, Pushing Daisies, have such distinctive styles that it's hard to catch that in fic. When I do find it in fic, it's amazing; but it's a hard thing to find. Especially with TWW, there is an exact style of dialogue for each character, so when I go for fic and the dialogue is just not there (and it is hard because Sorkin is amazing with that sometimes! Sports Night... \o/). Or maybe some shows seem so complete already that fic seems very extra sometimes. IDK, I feel like this should be a separate post when I'm not slightly sleep deprived.

wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (shocked)
This is another meme, but I really love it so I think everyone should do it too. I did it for PATD, FOB, and MCR (PATD need to make more songs, I'm just saying). Here it is :

- Choose a singer/band/group
- Answer the following using ONLY titles of songs by that singer/band/group

Memes!meme!Meme! )

(Yes this is my second post for today. Just think of this as making up for chunks of absences.)

But I just came across one of the funniest threads in fanficrants, and if you too like 'gross' humor then you should check it out too:

Dude, You taste like mystery coupled with sunshine! It must be love :)

Yes, if I could get away with it changing my lj name to tastes like moonlight on mondays just for kicks.

So let me add that I adore the new Northern Downpour video. B&W and Jon Walker in a V-neck! Spencer doing his drumming hair flip that I adore! I completely downloaded the *.avi format of the video. ( [livejournal.com profile] patd  has it under a members-only post).

wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (Default)

So I went ahead and joined nanowrimo :) I do hope to finish but even if I don't, it'll be nice to actually write more than two paragraphs at a time. When I actually finish my profile, I'll link you guys to it and, if any of you guys are doing it too, we can be writing buddies.

Speaking of writing--- I hope to sit down and edit that story I've been talking about for the last two weeks. It would have been done earlier, but I'm fighting off colds and other maladies, and I really can't look at a pc screen while I have a headache.

I did start sequel for both the nate/patrick story (Definitive Countdown) and the patd one (yeah, the one I haven't even finished editing yet--) but those things will be on technical back shelf until November is done.

Now on to a meme:

List my favorite 10 songs from Panic at the Disco....

This is in no order!

Northern Downpour-- is the video out yet? This is one of my favorite songs from them and it just is one of my favorite songs. This is the song I played on repeat for an extremely long time and it's the song I play to people who don't know about PATD. I missed your skin while you were east-- guys, every time I hear that line, I still smile and get ridiculous.

Lying is the Most Fun....-- This is the song that actually pay any attention to them as a band. I was actually irritated with the 'I Write Sins' but the minute I heard this song, I was like 'ok, this band is cool', unfortunately, I didn't even realize they were the same band. This was also during one my musicless periods--I'll explain it later.

That Green Gentleman -- It's this song that made me unable to listen to the rest of the Pretty.Odd. I heard it one time on a Friday night, I didn't even hear the rest of the album until days later. TGG hopped onto my Top 25 in an obscenely short time.

Camisado -- It took me longer to actually get into this song; but I still love the desperate breakdown in the middle.

Time to Dance -- okay this was the song that made me actually buy Fever. This is also why I'm so sad to be missing Rock Band tour because I have yet to get the TTD live experience (with drums!). I love Acoustic!Brendon, but I want my drumming on Time to Dance!

Esteban-- mainly just for the drumming. What? You guys see who dominates my icons.

There's a Reason...--- I adore Gatsby and Fitzgerald. I love the jazz age! How could I not love this song? Yes, I do try the snapping thing Brendon does with 'you're a diva' and yes, I still fail half of the time.  ( I never claimed to have rhythm).

Mad as Rabbits -- just because I love dance parties; and it's one of the times I can really appreciate Spencer. Also, the song just feels jaunty to me :)

Karma Police -- okay, it's a cover. I can do that. I just really love the interplay towards the end with Ryan coming in with 'well I'm afraid that I...'  and 'for a minute there, I lost myself' and how Brendon sings that last line.

Tonight, Tonight -- love these lyrics and how Brendon sings them. The opening music is still lovely for me.

Alright, if you guys don't have these covers, tell me. I will upload them for you. I pretty much have every PATD cover now, I think. Plus, if you want, you could totally do this meme to with any band.

wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (Default)

So I'm watching the new PATD self-made video and I came to some powerful conclusions:

** This band is insane in all the good ways and my love for them apparently has no bounds!

** Ryan Ross as a mummy and sort of pop-locking will never not bring a smile to my face.

**Spencer Smith was appropriately dressed as a wolf-monster to me :) I still adore him.

** Speaking of Wolf-Monsters, does anyone else feel like Video Spencer looks like half-demon Spencer in sekkritbandomlj's demons at the disco fic ? Is it just me? (Yes this is a subtle rec to a fun AU series; give me some allowances, I've been away from the 'net for a while :)

** I completely want in on their magical stash.

wishfulclicking: man in black and white pulling back a curtain to show moving sky (i want to be a bed)
Okay so I was going to wait and post a giant list of stories I've enjoyed during my 'hiatus' (and I am still going to do that) but this story forced me to rec--they are just that great.

Alarm Clocks Fell On Their Heads by [livejournal.com profile] simplemitosis
Rating: R
Word Count: approx. 1000
Pairing: Brendon/Spencer

This is a beatnik au and it's gorgeous. If you have read simplemitosis's fic before then you know how excellent she is, but if you haven't, then you are missing out. The main pairing here is Brendon/Spencer and their relationship is just conveyed in beautiful ways.

Brendon on stage is this blur, this long streak in Spencer's mind of words that barely make sense, laced together words like, Jesus got mad at an apricot tree, and surprised laughter runs through the haphazardly pieced together crowd. He paints, he sketches this portrait with his easy words, and if they weren't written on his hands and forearms you would think his sentences were just falling out of him like he's too full of the English language to swallow anymore.

Title: Shades of Similarities Bind
Rating: PG-13, some minor language
Pairing: Gabe/Spencer, Brendon/Spencer (past), other background ones
Word Count: 2750
Bands: PATD, Cobra Starship
Summary: Spencer meets someone on tour.
A/N: This is an AU where Cobra Starship does not exist. It was written for super_bandom challenge featuring kind of rare pairs. So much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] awkwardlurker  for looking over this for me and catching my mistakes. Any other ones you find are solely on me.

25 Days by Hello Saferide is a song that sort of goes with this story.

The first time they meet is an accident. )
