Fifteen Years ago is a place

And that place would not have had me so stressed to be saddled with a shoddy internet connection. It's weird how I type so much faster and open up tabs in prep just in case the connection disappears, it takes me back to the days of the phone modem and the fanfiction on *txt files.

Media Update:

The Bridge has me full on this season and I'm liking it though I do not necessarily want much fic for it; the only story I kind of want is the back story of Ruiz and the Gang Leader or maybe their fathers. IDK. I really want that backstory actually. I'm really enjoying the culture clash and the multiple points of view presented throughout. Going to kind of need there to be more than one killer because he just seems so together and good to be one man.

Orphan Black is good. I'm halfway done and could easily marathon the rest.

I remember those 'fun' days of hearing the dial tone as it connects. I used to turn off the graphics on my Netscape browser so the page would load up quicker. Forget the images, I needed the words.

I still do the tab thing too, and sometimes I just open, save, close. I was always a slow typist so I did(and still do) the type on notepad and copy/paste option.

I never got the hang of turning off the graphics, but I do remember being able to go off and make a sandwich while a picture loaded line by line.

I don't open that many tabs because the idea of having hundreds open is so foreign to me; usually I save a bunch of stuff to my pocket/read it later thing and then never get back to them.

Orphan Black is AMAZING. My husband and I started watching when it first started, but we were so overwhelmed that we ended up recording everything and holding on to it. Recently we watched it, one episode a night, and we were SO glad we did it that way and didn't have to wait too long between episodes. I can't wait to see the next season.

Teen Wolf... I am caught somewhere between bummed that it's over until January and relieved that I have four months of closed canon (for other me to write in) and sleep on Monday nights...

I just wrapped up Orphan Black and desperately wanted more; it didn't help that my cable box had listed episode 10 twice so I was thinking that the last episode were two hours long but it was just a repeat. Have you delved into any of the fandom? Any tumblrs? Communities? Fic? I don't have an intense craving for fic for it but I like something to tide me over during this hiatus.

Do you have a favorite Clone? Character?

Teen Wolf I think I liked it enough but so far this has not been my favorite season; I really like how Allison and Lydia were this season though. I need to see the second half to know how I feel on this season as a whole. I don't have a good experience with MTV shows having a double episode order after Awkward. but there are reasons.

I haven't delved into the fandom much, because I'm not really interested in fic for it. Some of my TW friends were posting gif sets back when it was airing (usually Fe, can't think why, he is SUCH a doll). I see stuff flow by periodically, but haven't gone hunting it.

Felix is my favorite character overall, although honestly, Kira's close as a second because oh MAN that kid is good. She's almost as amazing an actress as Tatiana. But HOLYCRAP I cannot even have words to express how impressed I am with the actress for the clones. Because she makes it BELIEVABLE. The show would be NOTHING without her talent.

Favorite clone? I don't even KNOW. I love them all for different reasons... I love how Allison cracked (and everything she went through, and how she was RIGHT DAMN IT). I love Cosima for her intelligence and her drive. I love Sarah because she's down to earth and stubborn. Helena was intriguing (and made my skin itch half the time). I think they are all amazing, and I can't wait to see what comes next season.

I am an unusual TW fan in that I didn't mind this season, but I always tend to give a lot more leeway to things than most fans do. I'm kind of mellow. I have things I love and things I don't. I loved watching Stiles fray. I missed Jackson (still do). I'm frustrated about the deaths, and do wish I had more from Cora, but I have so much head canon for her on my own now. I loved Lydia and Allison, and I do love looking back and seeing how relationships have changed and how people have grown. I love the little parallels that are built in. I hate the wank, which really affected how I watch it and how I interact with the community. Other me tries to be kind of super active (and writes a lot of fic) but she also remains very much on the fringe.

I'm looking forward to the second half. I guess... I trust. It's going to be another rapid rollercoaster ride because they are treating it as two twelve episode arcs rather than one long 24 episode arc, and I actually prefer that. I don't want what we went through to be drawn out because then I think the pacing would be too slow. The character development might improve, but the plot would suffer, and fans would rage about how nothing moved. I don't think it's possible to get it right/perfect. *wry smile* I guess we'll see.

I need to rewatch the last episode (maybe tonight if I'm lucky), and then I just need to write like crazy for the next four months while canon is temporarily closed. I love closed canon. It's so FREEING. :)

I really think this half of the Teen Wolf will flow better if/when I marathon it. Like you, I'm not very intense about the show because I have weaned myself of of needing specific things to happen; and actually the same complaints I have had last season carried over to this one. Teen Wolf is still a show I enjoy but I stepped back from the fandom because it felt very combative.

It's not fic I think I want so much from Orphan Black, but maybe some very good discussion pieces. I remember there was one post floating around talking about motherhood as a theme in the show but at the time I wasn't into the show so I couldn't appreciate it. Felix is a great character and I love his and Sarah's relationship. I don't have a favorite clone but I will say that Allison actually surprised me.

Closed canons are some of the best but I do love the energy that comes with there being more canon upcoming and all the guesswork as well.
