this tune feels familiar
Dec. 19th, 2009 12:42 amOnce again my channel line up may change with the turn of the new year. Except this year it's Fox and not Viacom that may disappear temporarily. When this happened last year, some channels were blocked out with a message and, while mildly annoying, it wasn't a terrible experience. Fox also has FX, but that's not a big deal for me now since It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Sons of Anarchy aren't on air, plus Glee is on its long hiatus. Also, there's Hulu now.
I would imagine the lesson of absence not always making the heart grow fonder would have been more solid with networks. Though I don't see this 'battle' lasting longer than maybe a day, but if Fox pulled its channels from Time Warner for a while, I think the ratings would take a hit when they returned. Part of TV's charm is the routine, every Monday night I watch this and on Tuesday, that. Once that routine is disturbed, I can easily find something else to do. People tend to be a lot less loyal when there are too many options.
