It's been over a month and a half without nothing on here. I'm not shocked but I don't like leaving this journal bare. I have been commenting on some posts but still...so--

Currently watching Teen Wolf, SYTYCD, Awkward., Suits

Movies viewed: Prometheus, The Amazing Spiderman both I liked despite some flaws.

Music: Have had Marina and the Diamonds' Electra Heart, Lana Del Rey, Chemical Brothers, and tracks from The Hood Internet on constant rotation, with a bit of Amy Winehouse and Fun. thrown in. I want to have those two albums as a soundtrack to a story I haven't written or read.

Sports: still watching Tennis (Wimbledon was historic today, though I will always feel bad for Murray and have the belief he will win at least one Slam at some point), did watch Olympic Qualifying for Swimming and Gymnastics and definitely plan to tune in this summer.

Books: My reading has dropped off considerably. I would be surprised if the same thing hadn't happened last year.

I had to go alone because nobody close to me was interested/had the time to go, but I enjoyed it. Are you a big fan of Spiderman? I do hope you like it and I'd talk with you about it after you see it. I'm already watching to see if any fic for it pops up (some kink memes have and some on AO3, and I need to go ahead and see if there is any more)

I'm going to see it the first time with my sister...but we have vacation starting tuesday and we're going to visit with my aunt(the schedule is full). So my sister is taking me as soon as we get back.

I'm a HUGE spidey fan, man. I don't know ALLLLLL the comic canons or all the animated films/cartoon's canon, but I know bits and pieces of almost everything.

OOOOSSS, I shall have to go looking for fic also. I know I plan on writing somthing with Peter Parker/Spiderman in it for my Marvel bb(if I ever get a chance to write it)

I'm hoping that if the movie is at least as good as the trailers, I'll be happy.

I grew up with the afterschool Spiderman cartoon so when the first trilogy came out I was all in but the third's handling of venom disappointed me. When they announced this reboot I was suspicious until I saw who was handling it and then when I saw the first main trailer, I was sold to give it a chance. No spoilers: but it did live up and surpass my admittedly low expectations. It was fun, and is a different take that has a strength in its character interactions. This Peter is less clean than Tobey Maguire's, in the sense that he's more standalone and less helpless, less outwardly awkward. Emma Stone is a good Gwen Stacy as well. I was surprised how much I liked them together because the absence of MJ was upsetting to me at first.

I did as well. When Spiderman came out in 2002 I was all YYAYYYY SPIDERMAN. But my 3 I was alll NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. But then again I was unhappy with the Doc. Oct. storyline because I just KNEW it meant we'd never get The Lizard(which while I LOVVVEEE Venom...The Lizard is a personal fave)

When I first heard about the reboot, I was a cross between happy and worried. But I saw the first teaser trailer...and no lie I went WAIT...IT LOOKS LIKE HE MIGHT HAVE WEBSHOOTERS!!!!!!!...then watched the trailer on a bigger screen and slow-moed it...YEP WEBSHOOTERS and since then(plus Andrew's teased at performance...along with THE LIZARD AS VILLAIN) I've officially been on board.

YAYS that it was better than you expected. Also, *fistpump* this is the Peter parker we were lacking...no offense to Tobey. Like I still enjoythe first two spiderman films but I remember seeing the first trailer going "THAT"..and "I didn't know anyone could be more Peter Parkery but Andrew hints at that here"

I'm not a big fan of MJ...unless it's the early run of Ultimate Spiderman...but then Gwen shows up and promptly steals my attention away. So it's good to know the Gwen/Peter is GOOD.

I want to high five you through the screen right now! I was so pleased by Andrew's performance, I was grinning so hard.

Yeah, I liked/loved the first two Spiderman films but Tobey's Peter never felt like the Peter I was familiar with. This Peter really does and I just hope they don't fall prey to whatever happened to the third in the prior trilogy.

I guess I never thought of it much like that until I had a basis to compare his performance to(even if I'm only using the trailers....which I guess says SOMETHING in and of itself) I think I was just soo stoked that we got a Peter Parker even if it was one that felt more like an actor pretending to be Spidey/Peter

hopefully Mark won't pull a Ramie....it makes me wonder if We'll get to see the Black Cat/Felicia, or Craven the hunter. It would be cool to see them.

I completely feel you on just being happy that the first trilogy existed. When that one came out there were questions if it would do well since Spiderman was not as well known as Batman or Superman in the States and it came out before superhero movies were mostly proven box office winners. It did give us that classic upside down kiss, for which I am forever thankful, but I am very much ready to embrace this new version.

Did you know there is talk of a Venom movie? It's just a possibility now but I do wonder if they are going to try it again in this universe or what. Right now the director of Chronicle is attached.

EXACTLY. Also, without the 2002 Spiderman and X-Men(mostly...not including other titles that helped) we wouldn't have had the foundation for Superhero movies in the new mil.(like okay Superman back in the 70's and Batman in the 80-90's also helped)

I WANT TO EMBRACE THIS REBOOT WITH OPEN ARMS.

I did, I don't know what to think because from what I hear, they want to make Eddie/Venom an anit-hero, champion of the weak and down-trodden where he's/they're only the bad guy when Spidey shows up.

SO....while I want a venom movie...IDK if I can get on that bandwagon...though it would be an interesting TWIST.

Have you seen Chronicle it was a pretty good film telling an original superpowers story.

I just have never really imagined a Venom standalone film, like it could work, I guess, but I'm trying to think of how.

I'd assume they'd introduce the character in the reboot universe again, but then I wonder if they'd want to do that in fear of retreading ground that the first trilogy did.

well, honestly...if the reboot is going the direction I think it is from what I've heard/seen in the trailers...it's possible they could introduce Venom in the second one in a way that doesn't exactly retread any more than the general Idea of Venom.

Teen Wolf. I love Teen Wolf. It is my massive new favorite fandom, except I haven't really started reading (or writing) fic for it. This might change if I can absorb enough of the characters into my head to pull it off.

Seriously, I keep wondering how I missed the first season, because when my husband and I sat down to stream it, we watched it in like THREE DAYS because we were that hooked.

It took me like three episodes to get into Teen Wolf. The first one didn't impress me that much and I forgot about it but then I was just happened up on the fourth one and got really interested and I watched the rest online and actually made the second season premiere appointment television. This season has stepped things up a bit, at least, I am liking Scott's growth this season and how he is such a good guy and how more of the secondary characters are getting involved. I am so curious about Lydia.

The added characters, especially the new wolf pack, are still slightly empty to me and I keep on getting some of the guys mixed up but I really think this season has grown.

The fandom is pretty fun for me, I follow most of it on tumblr and check AO3 occasionally for fic. Derek/Stiles is the big pairing but with the character shifts this season, I can still see writers figuring things out. I shouldn't be surprised, that's one of the features of following an open canon.

I think we were hooked by the second episode or so. There was just something about it that caught us.

I knew Derek/Stiles was going to be big before I started seeing fic. There's something about Stiles. He is my favorite character, with Lydia (who caught me from the first moment she was on screen honestly) being a close second. I loved all the hints in the first season about just how INTELLIGENT Lydia is, and she's got all this gooey STUFF that I just love to see going on, and I want more and more and more of her.

I love that the storyline in the second season is revolving around the two packs, and the realization of where Scott fits into things. I love all the primary characters, honestly, basically Scott's pack and friends. I'm not thrilled with Derek's pack because I want to see them more developed. I also want to see WAY more of Danny and photography dude whose name I cannot remember.

I keep being weirded out by Colonel Tigh (was he Colonel? or was it Commander? Man, I don't know my BSG canon) being the grandfather, but I also kind of love his character.

Obviously there are a lot of little things I could rave about. Mostly I flail, I think. I want to rewatch the entirety of seasons 1 and 2 after 2 is done, but I know 2 won't be up on Netflix for a while. :(

I love how the show handles Lydia's intelligence and how she reacts to not knowing what's going on. I don't agree with but understand Allison's stance on not sharing info, but I'm sure she's going to lay it out soon. Though I wonder if Stiles or even Scott does it first.

I can't get too attached to Derek's new pack b/c I haven't seen much of them yet; and I hope they don't have half of them die as a way to up stakes when they don't really have that depth yet.

What do you think the deal is with the stalker dude that is around Lydia? I've heard ideas that he's a delusion or young!Peter Hale or related or something?

Also: I love how the parents are done in this show.

Lydia rings very true to me because I've watched my daughter try to walk the social balance beam between popularity and intelligence. And I could totally see Stiles or Scott telling everything to Lydia soon enough. There's been just too much around her, and she's so involved whether she wants to be or not. And Stiles obviously cares about her (his obsession remains adorable to me). I think everyone keeps trying to pretend to themselves that since she didn't change, she's okay and they should keep her innocent. But if either she tells them about what's going on in her head, or they tell her the truth, I think it's all going to explode fairly quickly.

I don't see Derek's pack dying easily, not when it seems to be set in opposition to Scott's pack, now that they've admitted that's what's going on (it was obvious to me for a while).

I keep going round and round in circles on what I think is up with Lydia. It seems like delusions to me, since no one else is seeing it, but it's certainly possible someone is close by and can't be seen by anyone else. Personally I think the virus is still in her system and she's still changing but her body is resisting it kind of viciously. I suspect she might be becoming something entirely new or very little known.

Oh? I love Scott's mom, who is non-present enough to make it a teen show, and yet there are logical reasons why she's got trouble keeping track of him as a single mom who obviously loves and cares and is working her tailbone off to keep him with a roof over his head and in food and all. And Stiles' dad just cracks me up. But then, STILES. IS. AWESOME. So yeah. His relationship with his dad is great.

I want to know what the photographer dude is doing. He's obsessed with Allison. But there's something more there. He's... too watchful, too curious, and way too interested. And kind of creepy.

I wanted to watch last night, but unfortunately my husband tends to fall asleep early, so we watch recorded things and catch up the next day if we can. It really is good getting to watch with someone. I have a few things I watch on my own (Bunheads, Degrassi) and one that I watch with my daughter (we're working our way through The O.C.), but most everything else I get to share with my husband. Who gets fandom. And laughs when I mutter "and THAT scene just launched a thousand fics..."

I started to watch things on tumblr then failed because it kept spoiling me on The Secret Circle while that was still on. And I realized that unless I watch things RIGHT NOW it gets frustrating. I've had issues with Twitter and an author who, for a while, was live tweeting Teen Wolf episodes. I was like REALLY, you QUOTE while WATCHING? I know, I get cranky easily... *sighs* But I have to live by my DVR.

Now I can't WAIT to see the episode. I have to tell the husband it's a Lydia episode. That will make him stay awake for it, right? I hope!

I may just like the idea of them wanting to leave her innocent because it does show a sign of good in them, and is in very stark contrast to how Derek's pack works, y'know?

My daughter watched Degrassi with me for a while, but I was too impatient to watch and she didn't keep up and she got behind again. Degrassi also gives me infinite giggles because the actors keep showing up on Rookie Blue. Looks like Katie will be on this week. I recorded a Bunheads last night, looks like, although IMDB doesn't have a proper date update. I'm so confused on when it airs because I thought it was Friday but I guess it's Monday? For all the good press it's gotten, I suspect it will be canceled because honestly, it is WAY too smart to survive. Every time there's an offbeat humor witty show, I lose it. This drives me nuts. :(

My tumblr belongs to my other self, and I never tuned it properly to follow things I was interested in but leave the fandom stuff that might spoil me out. Then I got impatient and stopped dealing with it. I love the gifs and all, but find it way more fun to just go hunt for things periodically.
