The One Where I Keep my Word....

So last week I was sort of MIA when it came to the Livejournal and the only reasoning I can give is Harry Potter reared its awesome head and sucked me back in for a while. Harry Potter fandom was totally my gateway into all the insane greatness that is fandom. HP introduced me to MPREG, x-made-them-DO-IT, and it made the whole rivals really want to get it on a fannish reality for me. Before HP I used to be in all these schmoopy best friends --> lovers ships (and I still am), but the power that was Harry/Draco was just to much for me to resist.
All last week? I was at Harry/Draco Worldcup and it was awesome. There are some really excellent fics in the batch----so if you used to read HP and were a H/D fan then you should really go check it out.
Last week I mentioned some music escapades and I said I was going to post some new music. ( I may have said I would do it for my next post....ummmm let's just practice selective amnesia and forget about it :) CLICK ON THE CUT FOR SOME TUNES!!!!

Here are the tunes:
Duffy -- She is the current You Oughta Know Artist on VH1. Her sound takes me back to Motown Days and I am sort of having an affair with her voice at the moment. Most of this album feels like a breakup album.
Rockferry -- This is the title track of the album. It's not my favorite song, but it is good.
Warwick Ave -- This is my favorite song on the CD. I just love the flow of the song.
Mercy -- This is the BIG single at the moment. I really love the drums in this and that whole house party vibe of the 60s this track has.
I am using some Duffy on the fanmix, so if you like it download the fanmix when I post it. --YAY BIGBANG!
Death Cab for Cutie -- I still have not listened to this entire album because I am a lame person. But I know I love the first single and I am a Death Cab fan so I don't see how I could be disappointed. //Does anyone remember when Elyse's boyfriend from ANTM season 1 came to visit and he was a member of the band?// I am probably the only one who watches ANTM \o/
I Will Possess Your Heart -- This is the first single and it is pretty popular. I really like it, though it does have an long intro.
Long Division -- I have not listened to this song yet but I do like the title...Also, I can not only post one song per artist...it is beyond me.
I am also using some Death Cab for the fanmix. I just bought Plans two days ago, so I will be posting some music from that album too eventually.
Tegan & Sara -- I have mentioned them in previous posts. So lyrically they own my soul and I had to share. I am using a good number of songs for the fanmix because the sentiment of this album really fits with the bandombigbang that I got to fanmix for.
Dark Come Soon -- This is not my favorite song on this album, but I would feel silly posting a song twice so more Tegan and Sara will definitely be on the fanmix.
On fanmixing: To me a fanmix is the soundtrack to fiction and the music should absolutely fit the mood of the piece. I don't want to feel like I am taking fanmixing way too seriously; but I am honestly trying to make the best fanmix I possibly can. After I had finish reading the bigbang piece, I realized that I only had 10 suitable songs...so I had to listen to more music. (But I am definitely not complaining since I love to listen to music!)
Extra music: So last week on Step It Up & Dance the performers had to redo the moves for the video 'Umbrella' by Rihanna. If you are like me you may be sick of hearing that song...but you also may like hearing cover so I present to you All Time Low's Umbrella
*Sidenote* I have another day to rec on polyfandom recs! This time I will focus on bandslash so everyone should check it out. Really, polyfandom recs is just an awesome community anyways.

Date: 2008-05-29 12:59 pm (UTC)I usually skip the intro. I love Death Cab and I respect them for creatively experimenting but sometimes I just don't need to hear the eternal intro.
