You ever have a hankering for something new? That was where I was at musically---I love my FBR/DD/MCR gentlemen, but I wanted some new tunes. So I went and bought the following albums:

Rockferry by Duffy-- This album is really good. It has this bluesy, motown vibe and she is just a singer. There really is not a song I dislike on this entire album. For those who watch VH1, she is a VH1 'You Oughta Know' Artist and I really hope she does well over here in the States. (I am hoping for a tour...when I am not broke)

The Con by Tegan and Sara -- Ridiculous love for this album. They put poetry to music, and they make me want to turn off everything else and listen to the entire album straight through while reading the lyrics. I really want to experience them live.

Narrow Stairs by Death Cab for Cutie -- I am a fan of their stuff. When I went to Circuit City to buy their album I had a 'are you stupid' moment and seriously thought they were all out. Before I became one of those customers, I grabbed a sales paper and looked up the name of the album.

I will come back with a music post after I figure out which songs I am not putting on my fanmix. I will post my fanmix here too, but I think everyone is watching [community profile] bandombigbang so you will see it there too.

I just saw Aging Out which is about people growing out of the foster care system in America. It is a really good movie, but it was a little sad too--it made me cry (which is something of a thing because I don't usually cry---)

Death Cab for Cutie are made of awesome. I love those boys. I have three (???) of their older albums.

And I don't like Tegan and Sara that much. Their lyrics are pretty awesome... but I just don't like listening to them sing. *shrugs*

And I've never even heard of Duffy. I shall have to go and have a looksie at some of her stuff.

Tegan and Sara--- yeah in the earlier post I said they sounded chipmunky. If their lyrics weren't so great, I wouldn't love this album, but I really love great lyrics so I love this album.

I only have one Death Cab for Cutie older song. I am completely loving the new album.

Duffy has that song 'Mercy' becoming really popular right now.

Are you involved at all with bandombigbang? Did you write anything? Are you doing a fanmix?

No... I'm not involved with [livejournal.com profile] bandombigbang.
Yes I have written stuff, but it is mostly boring non-fandom stuff from when I was depressed. You can find anything I have ever written (and posted) here. (http://awkwardlurker.livejournal.com/tag/my+writing) The only real fic, is right at the bottom of the page, and is only a dribble drabble.
And no I'm not doing any fanmixes, but I probably should because I usually make them up as I go when reading stuffs.

I make up fanmixes too, it's even at the point where I stopped reading a story and switched to TGG because the author said ' things have changed ' and the song completely fit. I remember one time having to play Northern Downpour on repeat because the story just synced so well with that song.
