Fear the Walking Dead?

Did anyone watch it? No spoilers, but or me, the pilot dragged and I wish it would adopt a wider focus instead of narrowing in one that one family. The previews of upcoming events does excite and I will see it through. I think it's only 6 episodes so a lot more action should start coming up. I couldn't help but compare to TWD's pilot and how excellent it was on so many levels.

Here is a review full of details for the first episode that describes it well. If it wasn't for the original show, I probably wouldn't stick around; but I could see it possibly working for others.

I watched it! The only character I ended up liking was Nick, although Travis might end up being okay. I'm not really interested in all this family drama; we got glimpses of the characters being pleasant towards each other but they all ended up being pretty damn snotty and that was annoying.

Plus I like (and by like I mean hate) how there were two black guys and they're both already dead. I mean the daughter's boyfriend miiiight be alive but eh. I thought it was heavily suggesting that he was dead.

For a moment I had hope when Calvin/Cole showed up that he was truly not bad, but then they made him a drug dealer, and had him try to kill the son and made him a zombie and I was irritated. I've been with TWD for so long that I had pushed back the early season issues, but to see them repeating this same dance again was frustrating.

I'm willing to say FTWD is a good show but I'm not that interested in seeing a family drama. My hope is that it becomes most apocalyptic/mass panic next episode because I couldn't believe I spent that much time and so little actually happened.

Have you read World War Z? That still remains one of my favorite ways of seeing a zombie attack begin and go through the world. My ideal prequel would not focus on just one family but a range of characters. I guess they have to pace themselves though because the show was renewed for a second season and they don't plan on having the timelines meet just yet.
